What are you shipping?

Send carton or pallet details for an LCL (consolidated cargo) enquiry, or your container requirement for an FCL (full-container) enquiry. Tell us whether you need delivery to a destination port or want to discuss a sea DDP option.

Should I request LCL or FCL?

LCL shares container space with other shippers; FCL reserves a container for one shipper, even if it is not filled. Maersk's ocean freight guide explains the distinction. Ask for both options when your shipment size makes the choice uncertain.

Compare the same packed cargo and receiving point. Ask each quotation to identify its charging basis and minimum, origin consolidation and destination handling, customs tasks, final delivery, and any charges outside the quoted total. Give your ready date and required arrival date so the desk can explain the proposed handovers and schedule. Confirm the final LCL charge against the quoted charging basis, minimum and handling scope.

What should the quote include?

Ask for the proposed route, cargo acceptance, timing basis, validity and the charges included at each end. For a DDP enquiry, ask the sales desk to specify the agreed customs, duty, tax and delivery responsibilities for the exact shipment.

What should I send for oversized or special-container cargo?

Ask about oversized cargo or a special-container requirement. Send packed dimensions, weight, drawings or photographs when available, lifting requirements and the requested port delivery point. Describe the equipment and handling you need so acceptance can be assessed.
